What a year looks like

The ELCA Vocational Fellowship program invites ELCA young adults ages 18-35 into a transformative, year-long journey in a professional work setting. As they work at various locations around the country, ELCA young adults will gain professional experience and connect through faith communities.

A year of working through the Young Adults Vocational Fellowship program invites young adults to provide critical support to ministries and projects in communities and organizations, while also gaining experience and honing skills. It also invites fellows into a journey of self-reflection, providing space to consider their sense of identity, God’s work in the world, and their place within it all through retreats and small group discussions with other fellows.

Fellowship opportunities are offered in Ministry, Finance, Graphic Design, Food Justice, Housing Resources, Advocacy, Public Policy, and Higher Education. Learn more about the specific jobs at each site in the Partner Directory!

By the end of the year, fellows will have 9-12 months of professional, full-time work experience, networking opportunities in a similar field, received discernment coaching, and continued support from ELCA Young Adult Ministry.
