What Organizations Contribute

  • A salary or compensation package that:

    ◦    Meets the standard of livable wage ($20 hr/40 hours a week) (housing may contribute to this at a level approved by ELCA Young Adults)
  • Allows for 10 PTO days and at least 4 paid holidays
  • 2 days off per 5 days worked
  • 8 hours per month for participant development and formation
  • 1 hour per week allowed for cohort meeting
  • Six 1-hour coaching sessions spread out throughout the year (coaching provided by ELCA)
  • All supervisors and superiors must complete 8 hours of ELCA-provided training in the following areas:

    ◦    Anti-racism

    ◦    Gender and Sexuality

    ◦    Mental Health & Accessibility

    ◦    Boundaries Training

    ◦    Program Details
  • Reporting of Applicant demographic data annually
  • Committed to embracing new ideas and investing in the young adult placed at the organization, including fostering an environment of mutual accompaniment
  • Required to provide accommodations for people with disabilities unless nature of the work directly prohibits this

What ELCA Young Adults Provides

  • Access to Mental Health Resources (free unlimited therapy)
  • ELCA Coaching (6 sessions per fellow)‍
  • up to $1,000 Relocation Fees‍
  • Need-based program and site-specific resources (computer, mileage, etc.)‍
  • Transportation, lodging, and program fee for the Transition Retreat
