The SEAD Fellow serves through the call of the ELCA Young Adult Fellowship and is the direct hire of The Dwelling/Mission Fund of the NC Synod. They are responsible for supporting the vision, ministry and outreach efforts of The Dwelling, Winston-Salem. This position is called to steward the community through leadership, service, education, advocacy and development.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Learning
- Participate in the leadership of Summer Service Learning projects, worship, debrief etc. as needed
- Help create curriculum for Service Learning in partnership with SPARK
- Partner with Lead Pastor and SPARK to develop, plan, and implement staff training for summer Service Learning staff
- Work with Lead Pastor to promote and recruit participants and staff for summer programming
Education
- Create and lead workshops, presentations, and learning opportunities for the broader community (e.g. what is homelessness, anti-racism, community organizing, poverty, equitable service, etc.)
- Visit local congregations, partners, and community groups to educate on the realities of homelessness and The Dwelling’s intersection
Advocacy
- Work with organizing groups to mobilize local efforts related to homelessness
- Represent and present The Dwelling and it’s Core Values and Theological Statements in public spaces
- Create easily accessible content that aims to educate and encourage wider participation in advocacy related to homelessness, poverty, hunger, and systemic oppression
Development
- Schedule speaking/preaching opportunities with partner congregations to share the mission, vision, and core values of The Dwelling, with the goal of increased financial partnership and support (a minimum of one Sunday per month off-site).
- Develop first-time donor strategy and coordinate giving campaign calendar
- Develop donor relations through donor acknowledgements, follow-up, and retention
- Connect with ecumenical partners with a focus on building strong relationships with local Moravian Congregations
- Research and gather new leads on grants/foundations/funding sources
- Write small grant requests at the discretion of Lead Pastor
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to write large grant requests
Storytelling
- Social Media Manager and content creator that tells the story of The Dwelling and her people to the wilder church and community through creative storytelling and marketing that’s on brand with The Dwelling’s core values and theological statements.
- Create and maintain a Dwelling Blog and/or other story-telling platform
- Cultivate stories, photos, and information to be shared and sent through a monthly newsletter.
- Work with the Lead Pastor to produce the Year-End Report
- Produce a monthly podcast with stories from the community, community leaders and activists, non-profits, etc.
